February is a BIG Month

February is a a big month in our house.. we have so much to celebrate. I celebrate a birthday and while I'm not there yet.. next year I'll be celebrating a big milestone birthday with a big 0 at the end.. yikes. M celebrates his birthday the very minutes mine comes to an end.. so it's a two day celebration.. though sometimes we celebrate just all week long. :) We also got engaged during this fabulous month.. and then there is Valentine's Day which honestly just gets over shadowed by all the other awesomeness of the month.

This year and hopefully if you like every year from here on out I am going to host a BIG BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY!

I'm all about week-long birthday celebrations! Valentine's Day was our first date, as cliche as that is, so it's a great month for us, too. Happy early birthdays! :)

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. The next thing to take into consideration was the transition between the two floors.. generally what is used it a T- Moulding, that strip you see in the above picture connecting the two floors together. D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker.
