Panic on the Slopes

Image
We went skiing over the weekend. We went back up to Plattekill Mountain in Upstate New York. We hired the same instructor we had last time to guide us down the green slopes. Once you graduate the bunny hill the next step is the green slope. We were all pumped to try it out.  This was not our first time on a chair lift.. but this was a lot longer and higher than the one I had been on before. Then I remembered some celebrity recently having their son falling off the chair lift and breaking their arm or leg..  The dismount was smooth.. last year, the last chair lift I had been on had a steeper dismount, D had ended up crashing into me and I had bent my knee in an odd angle.. the knee still hurts sometimes. So this was great.. a good start. The kids zoomed down the slope, fearless (so proud of them), the instructor had to remind them to slow down and wait for us. M was a little rusty on his turns.. the instructor commented on how well I was doing, better turns then the three boys, such gre

I have been in a bit of a book funk.. the last three books I read have been not so great. I am currently reading The Girl in the Mirror by Rose Carlyle .. I am a couple of chapters in but it seems promising.  We have started reading the third Harry Potter book, the Prisoned of Azkaban. The kids are enthralled by the series and try to negotiate extending their bedtime every night just to be able to hear a bit more.  Ever heard of an agamograph? Well the kids were bored over the weekend and I found this little activity for them to do. H made this one. You can find the template here D made the one below. You can find the template here We have been working on redoing M's office space..  we had redone it when we had moved in over seven years ago and thought it needed a refresh. You can see how we redid it the first time here .  This is the before.. the after is not done just yet..  We are also sprucing up the guest bedroom which for all these years has always been a bit of an after thou

I sat a long while trying to think of what to write about but with nowhere to go and nothing to do there is not much to share.  So while I don't use the blog to do a lot of blatant self promotion except for the occasional  Friday Photography posts, I am doing it now. Ski Break on Plattekill Mountain

Happy New Year to you all!  Back to the grind.. today's our first day back to routine. The kids are still doing virtual school.. M is still working from home..  We had a nice winter break.. we went away for a couple of days.. we rented an Airbnb in Upstate New York. It was a very last minute decision so the pickings were slim but the place was clean and that was the most important part.  We picked Plattekill Mountain, a small mountain.. not too crowded. Drove up Saturday morning and in true 2020 fashion they were closed. They had a storm a day before and were still working on making fresh snow. We got no call or email.. the girl stated they post updates on their social.. oh well. We were in the middle of nowhere.. everything closed due to both Covid and it being Christmas weekend and our Airbnb not available till after 4pm. So we just drove around.. got some lunch at a really sweet little place in Delhi called Blue Bee Cafe. We had mastered the bunny hill last season and were hopin
