Flower Maker - A Pakistani man threads together rose buds and petals to sell in his little flower shop. In most Islamic and Hindu cultures it is customary to put a necklace made of roses around a persons neck at times of weddings, birthdays and other celebratory occasions. Happy Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween Everyone.. ours was a rocky one with a few highs and a ton of lows.. we started Halloween on Friday with a parade in D's school. D was so excited.. H on the other hand has been teething, he's getting his molars and has been super clingy, lots of crying and screaming and not much fun :(  H wore his costume just long enough for us to get a picture on Friday..  We started Halloween day with some baking.. with the sleep deprivation, cranky H and the endless questions hurled at by by D the cookies didn't turn out quite right. I missed something and the cookies were not quite edible.. trust me, we tried.  Next M helped the boys carve our first ever pumpkin!  We headed out for trick or treating late in the afternoon, D excited H sans costume clinging to me. By the time we were done it was dark, we had accumulated a years worth of candy and we ready for November. In fact we almost forgot to take a picture!

Digger Land

Image
After all that adventuring without the kids we thought we'd have a family fun day.. I had been meaning to check out Digger Land for over a year.. it is New Jersey's very own construction themed amusement park..  All the rides were quite simple.. the main attraction was of course getting to ride and or sit behind the wheel of these massive machines.. D was ecstatic.. M and my brother got a kick out of it too.. unfortunately H was barely allowed to sit on one ride.. it was a great way to spend a couple of hours..                            Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Bloglovin

Zip Lining, River Rafting and Other Adventures

Image
The first week of August M began his one month non compete leave and being the planners that we.. I am, we had a certain set expectations of what this month was to be.. we wanted to have fun, we wanted to relax, we wanted to get back on top of things with our list of never ending errands, we wanted to spend some time with family.. we wanted to spend some time without the kids.. just us.. we needed some adult time.. and now weeks after M has gone back to work and we are back to our regular routines I can look back and saw that we had a kick ass month that lived up to everything we had hoped to get out of it and more! We kicked it off with a trip to the Poconos with my brother and sister in law, leaving the kids at home with grandparents. I signed us up for a Zip Lining 3 Hour Adventure Course at the Skytop Lodge in the Poconos. This was the first time any of us had zip lined and it was awesome.. the course itself was crazy awesome.. there was four levels of obstacles.. perfect way to

It All Started with a Book

Image
Every two weeks we hit the library.. bring home a stack of books to read through before bedtime. A few weeks ago we read The Dancing Clock a story based on the Delacorte Musical Clock in Central Park near the Central Park Zoo. I told D that the clock was near by, we had seen it before.. walked by it a few times. He didn't remember.. nor did he believe me. So obviously this called for a field trip! And while we were making the trip to Central Park I decided D was also old enough for a visit to the Museum of Natural History..  after the museum we took a stroll through Central Park.. it was actually less of a stroll and more of a dragging D through the park with the promise of ice cream.. the poor child was tired and the promise of ice cream was the only thing keeping him going.. at one point he walked shoe less and I even had to carry him for some of the stretch.. it was quiet an adventure. Once we found ice cream we found a nice shady spot to sit and took a sweet break.
