A Place to Eat

Our dinning area started out with our old rug and old dinning table while I searched for a new one. pinterest pinterest I really liked the style of the windsor chair and how about that bench? The process of searching for something is made so much easier when you know exactly what you are looking for. I didn't want a chunky looking dinning table or chairs to weigh the room down.. finding the perfect one was surprisingly easier than I had expected. The only down was that the bench didn't make the cut. Now the question was to rug or not to rug? Originally I had thought rug.. of course a rug. But when we got around to determining how large a rug we would need.. by rule it should be at least 2 feet larger then your table on all sides.. and since we bought a large table my in laws will be moving in soon the size of the rug we needed was going to be very big.. which would end up hiding so much of our floor we would have gone with carpeting if we wan

Family Room: Places to Sit and a Rug

Image
I have been meaning to update everyone on how our family room is coming along.. but as you can imagine I have been pressed for time and finding the perfect sofa, rug, curtains has been not easy. We bought a new grey sectional. The black leather sofa we already owned and thought it went nicely with the space and color palette. The rug was far more tricky.. the size we were looking for was larger than the standard thus harder to find in the price range we were comfortable with. While we loved the feel of our old shag rug it was not kid friendly. So we searched and searched till we found something we could agree upon. Our next task curtains! Even harder than the rug. We bought several colors to try out what we liked and didn't, should we go pattern or plain.. we have found a winner thank god but have yet to put them up.. hopefully a task for the coming weekend.. Then we need to: Mount the TV above the fireplace Buy a few pieces of furniture like a sofa/cons

Lately

As you can imagine there is a lot going on lately.. My mom flew in a week or two before little H came and has been living with us since.. which means tons of bonding with the boys (a great plus since she lives continents away and the only bonding time she usually gets is via skype) plus tons of rest for me. What will I do when she leaves!? We have had snow.. so much snow.. well most of the country has had it's share of the snow by now .. and while it started out fun.. our house has a slope in the back so we all.. all except little H went sledding for the first time..ever! It was a lot more fun than I had expected. But now I am done.. I don't want to see another snowflake till December! I'm sitting here by our window watching the snow fall as I type this! H is a month and a half.. a month and a half! Can you believe it? I can't. D is being an excellent big brother.. he sings to H, makes grossed out faces when The H.. yes he like to add 'the' before

2013 in Books

Another slow reading year.. with travelling, moving and the baby I was usually too tired at the end of the day to read more than a few pages. Rarely do I go to sleep without reading even a few pages of flip through a magazine..  I used to have this thing about never leaving a book unfinished. I thought it rude to the author to not finish. There was always a slight chance that things would turn around and with a little clever twist I would end up liking it rather than not. I can no longer afford to do that. I am mom to a toddler, I am exhausted, I barely get the time to read. I make the time because I love to read. If in the first few chapters I am not even mildly engaged then I just stop reading and move on. I started off the year with The Solitary Tales.. a series of four books. I won the first three in a giveaway and am now waiting for the fourth. 1. Solitary - Travis Thrasher - On an average day I would have never picked up these books. They are about a teenage boy new in

Introducing Hasan

Image
On 2nd January we welcomed our second son. He was a tiny little thing.. but that didn't mean he made coming into this world any easier. He started making the move in the last few hours of 2013 and took the long scenic route out. Lets just say 'ouch!'  D started with just plain ignoring him.. and has now slowly progressed to acknowledging him at times.. I'm not complaining. I'll take ignoring over jealousy any day.  We named the little one who will from now on be referred to as 'H' Hasan. Pronounced like Hudson minus the 'd'. It was the name of the first grandson of our Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). It means 'to be beautiful and to be good'  Get my post directly in you inbox with  Bloglovin I am now also offering ad space.  See  Sponsors  for more information .  Newsletter Sign Up - Let's Stay Connected, Shall We?
