lately

Where do we start.. the world, common sense, basic kindness, humanity.. everything is just falling apart, we are seeing a lot of peoples true colors and they are not pretty. The news, social media everything is veering to push one over the edge and into a downward spiral. I wonder which dystopian fictional world will be our reality? Too much negativity.. I know.. gotta try to keep things a little positive..

Our quarantine world has opened up a little. We hit the tennis courts a couple of times a week.. sometimes M and I.. sometimes M and D. We have been biking around the neighborhood.. we started to venture out onto a semi main road. The kids and I have taken up jogging in the mornings before breakfast.. we don't get much far.. turns out none of us have much stamina.. something we are working on. Hopefully we'll all come of this quarantine a little bit healthier.

We have also taken up golf.. well at least attempting to. M occasionally plays golf, the rest of us have only ever played the miniature version. So we started to try our hand at a driving range once a week.. and the other day we even set up a mini driving range in our backyard.

at the range

at home

and we hit the beach! we have found a beach that is free and semi empty.. it's not the best beach with soft sand.. it is a bit pebbley.. but there aren't a lot of people so social distancing is a breeze and the kids are happy..

This was their first time flying a kite and H was a natural.

  5. The kids look happy and so I bet you are a little happy as well. I am aghast at the world and the news feed. I never thought I'd see a pandemic! I pray every single day that everything gets better.

  6. I quite understand your negative thoughts, Hena. I've once heard it said that the pandemic was bringing out the best in people, but I'm afraid I can't see it. I'm avoiding social media as much as possible for the moment, as it's only accelerating the downward spiral for me. I'm trying to live in the moment, and try to be happy with the little things, but I have to admit it doesn't always work. Perhaps it is even worse when one has children, as you worry for them as well. It's great that you are doing fun things with them! xxx

  7. The kite flying looks like great fun!! I was never very good at it as a kid.

I'm still avoiding as much media as possible...social or mainstream. Bad new sells and they're determined to keep us all depressed or afraid. I'm sick of it.

  11. I was ecstatic when our country started to open up but now it looks like the number of covid--19 cases are going up again after the emergence of a few clusters. We are now bracing for a second lockdown. Keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen. This is so depressing!

  12. Love all these fun activities! Wish I could get my older boys to get outside!

  16. Sadly this pandemic has really exposed a lot of ugliness in this world and all we can do is to maintain as much positivity as we can in our own worlds.

  17. Yes indeed. Things are truly challenged to be sure. Very scary and what is happening in Portland...

We are starting to get out here in the NY area, but our government and the people here responded correctly and now this area is doing relatively ok. But getting out now as come fall we will most likely be in lockdown again.

  18. Totally agree- there is a lot of grossness being exposed right now. I don't understand why people are so... selfish? Narrow-minded? It's wild.

So glad you guys are getting out and enjoying the fresh air! And it seems like you'll definitely come out of quarantine a healthy bunch!

  19. Oh, what a wonderful post - your words, the pictures of the kids, the kite! And I'm glad you found a place at the beach that there weren't any people. It looks like the kids are having a blast. Jess lives near the ocean, and she also found a few places for the little one to roam without any people around. Kind of like your own little oasis. That first picture is priceless. I smiled at the kite flying because I used to fly a kite with my son when he was little. Hang in there, my friend, and Yes, the world is falling apart, but you are staying positive and remaining in goodness with your family. : )

  24. you are doing well hena. you are thinking outside the box and finding fun, creative things to do. it must be difficult with young kids, i can't even imagine!!

i am surprised you found a "free" beach, i would stick with that. the pay beaches in this area are mobbed, and so many of the people are out of towners!! flying a kite is on my list but all of our beaches are pay until 6 pm!!

stay positive, i have heard the children in this area are only attending in person classes 2 days per week. that is going to be so hard for parents, especially those that work!!!

  25. It's such a sad world right now with all the division. I think it's great your able to get to a semi secluded beach.
